Mosaic Church 5K Run To Benefit Chanae Nordhoff
This past Saturday morning I “ran” a 5K. This was to benefit Chanae Nordhoff, a young lady in our community that was set to attend Metro State University in Denver on a cross country scholarship but was involved in an auto accident. We had 19 people from Mosaic come out and support the family by participating in the run.
I started out the day planning to walk the course. I’ve never been a great runner and only recently started working out again so I thought it would be fun to walk the course with my wife and church friends.
Then it happened…
As we were getting ready to start the race, several people stood at the starting line obviously ready to run. I couldn’t just take off walking while others took off running, so: with no stretching or warming up, I take off too.
I ran about 1/2 mile and had to start walking. After a bit, this is what I saw:
Now I have nothing against this fine lady. She was out raising money for Chanae just like I was. What irritated me was:
1. She was obviously older than I was.
2. She was passing me, as you can see from the picture of her back!!
3. She was walking!!! (or wogging, either way it was humiliating.)
This woman passed me right up with her Olympic speedwalking. This hurt, alot. I have more work to do in the gym so I better get at it.
Thanks for reading, talk to you soon.
By the way, my time was 43 minutes.
